The story of Rabbi Leone da Modena

  • Rabbi Leone da Modena was born in Venice in 1571. At the age of two he knew how to read, at the age of three he was able to translate passages of the Torah from Hebrew into Italian. He was a teacher, preacher, gambler, play writer, poet and alchemist and very much against the Kabbalah, he died at the age of 77 a controversial figure, polemic by nature and vocation. He taught for years but found no joy in teaching, his only real love was writing, this is only a part of his interesting story.
