Story of sarah copio

  • Sara was a Venetian poetess and intellectual who lived in the Ghetto in the 17th century. She established a literary salon in the Ghetto, which was also frequented by rabbi Leone da Modena. In 1621 she was accused of heresy by one of her former admirers and was obliged to answer to the Holy See. She did so in the "Manifesto di Sarra Coppio, Hebrea". Sara was robbed systematically by people who surrounded her blaming an "airborne spirit". This is only part of her very interesting story.
